What is a Doula?
A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Birth and postpartum doulas help support families through the
the life-changing experience of having a baby!
Whether it’s a family’s first baby or their tenth, a doula can help make the birth and postpartum experience better without interventions.
My Services
As a birth doula, I provide emotional and physical support to a woman during her labor and delivery. I can also facilitate communication with the staff to ensure that you have the information you need to make informed decisions regarding your baby’s birth.
I provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress, and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for your comfort.
As a Homeopath & and Doula, I help you with Herbs, Homeopathy, Essential oils, and Holistic Nutrition during your pregnancy. I am independent and self-employed, and as such, I am working for YOU, not your caregiver or place of birth.
I will meet with you and your partner to go over my contract and meet up at least once (preferably twice) before labor to become acquainted with you; explore and discuss your priorities, make a birth plan and any fears or concerns; present evidence-based information on the risks and benefits of common interventions and procedures used during childbirth; discuss your birth plans; and plan how we might best work together.
I will also inform you of times when I am unavailable for labor support.
I will teach you in one of our meetings pre-labor breathing, relaxing exercises, meditation and body exercise.
During Labor, I will make sure I support you physically, mentally, and emotionally.

"Scientific trials examining doula care demonstrate remarkably improved physical and psychological outcomes for both mother and baby. Doulas have a positive impact on the well-being of the entire family."
What goes into a Doula Fee
Some of you might see your doula support as the service within the labor window, but there’s way more to it than those 10-48 hours of labor. Here are the things that are built into the fee of the doula:

-
On-Call Period – potentially leading to missed holidays, important family dates, and appointments.

-
Experience- How many births have they attended and the expertise of the Doula.

-
My Education and qualifications- include lactation support, comforting touch/massage, classical Homeopathy, secondary and advanced education, board-certified holistic Health Practitioner, certified aromatherapist, and DONA doula certified.

-
A network of Care Providers and services that the doula has access to

-
1 Prenatal Visit- that covers prenatal education, building rapport, birth plan, and getting to know your preferences

-
1 Postpartum Visit- to unpack the birth and help the family uncover any solutions or resources that may be required.

-
Expenses (taxes, gas, travel time, association fees, commission fees, etc.)

-
Back-up Doula Fee- Doulas work with other doulas for a back-up system since they live the “on-call life,” so they occasionally have to pay other doulas to cover them while they have a family emergency, another birth to attend or a planned black-out date

Lastly, a note about picking a doula. Every doula has a unique set of skills, personality, and professionalism. I invite you to an interview to get to know me. While experience and education bring value to a doula, the most important thing is that you feel a connection with your doula. You want to feel safe and that you can be your most complete self in front of your doula.
